Name: My name is Elizabeth Magsino, but most people know me as Zet Gold.
Describe yourself and your work!
My work is based on a series of Journal Entries I call “Birdwatching”. Birdwatching is simply daily observations I make day to day. It’s this idea of subtracting yourself and standing background to what’s happening in front of you.
What do you think is important for our community to do better when it comes to supporting local artists and musicians?
It’s tough to say, especially being here for only a little over a year. I still feel like I’m trying to navigate my way around the city still but from what I’ve seen so far I will say that I would like to see more events happening for creatives here. I think there also needs to be more opportunities where the community can get involved rather than just events where you simply attend. I truly believe that the city has so much potential and there is so much room to grow.
Do you have any events coming up?
I do have a few events coming up! Next week I’ll be flying out to Carson City, Nevada to paint a mural for the Boys + Girls Club and to do a lecture. And in a month I will be having my first solo exhibition in Iowa on April 18th at the Basement at the Des Moines Social Club.
Any places we can see or access your work right now?
Right now I have an installation at the Sure Thing Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Aside from that, my work can be found mainly online.
What makes you magic?
A good night’s rest, being patient with self, and vitamin D. And an occasional apple fritter.
